With Tesla battery and powertrain investor day coming up in April, there is a lot of talk of new battery chemistries. There is also a lot of confusion surrounding battery chemistry versus battery form factor. I'm going to explain the difference between the two and show you how the Tesla Model X and the Tesla Model S will achieve 500+ miles of range without changing from the current 18650 battery form factor to the 2170 battery form factor used in the Tesla Model 3 and upcoming Tesla Model Y.
